Hello! I am back with a fun card I made last weekend to play along with the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge. Only problem is I waited too long to post it…they’re on to a different color combo now. Oh well, I can still post my card here 🙂
My starting point was to random stamp a piece of 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white daisy paper with the One of a Kind stamp set (retired) in the challenge colors. I love this technique! I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it at that point, so I turned to a card sketch at Mojo Monday. Of course I didn’t get this card posted to play along on their blog, either! But it still gave me the inspiration I needed. Challenges are a great way to get your mojo going, aren’t they?
I colored this cute little froggie from the Spring Critter stamp set with watercolor pencils. To the left is what the frog looks like after coloring but before blending. The beauty of watercolor pencils is that it can be messy and imperfect… I’m totally addicted to this technique now! Add little or more color depending on how dark you want the final result. On his belly I mixed yellow and green.
Then to blend I used CTMH’s blending pen. It leaves such a wonderful, smooth result…seen below! I stamped the frog in Memento black ink to be sure it didn’t bleed when going over it with the pen.
TIP: To make sure your sentiment stamp fits the space on the frog perfectly, set your block over the space. Then mount your sentiment on the block as you look through to make sure it’s lined up just right! I love that you can curve acrylic stamps.
The Spring Critters stamp set also has matching Thin Cuts dies. They both retire on April 30, so if you love them as much as I do you better snag them quick!
